This time of year it’s important to give thanks to what matters, and nothing impacts equestrians’ lives more than their beloved horses. Take some time to reflect on what your horse has given you. Practicing gratitude is healthy for anyone! We’ve made a list of what we’re thankful for in our horses, you can too!
Companionship
One of the best things about being a horse person. Horses have a way about them that is unlike any connection we feel.
Learning Experiences
Every time you see your horse you learn something new. We’ve gained such a plethora of knowledge from our horses and we are so grateful to them for it!
Confidence Builders
Horses force you to try new things, to be fearless, and to be quick on our feet. That feeling after a breakthrough in training or a good ride in competition is one of the best feelings in the world.
Stress Relief
Even if horses can be incredibly stressful at times, more so than not they are stress relievers. Barn time is a great time to let go of stress and just be present with your horse.
Unconditional
Everything with a horse is unconditional. Whether it be love, companionship, or patience horses will give these things to you without expecting anything in return (although a treat here and there doesn’t hurt!)
Keeping Us Active
Horses are a great source of exercise. Barn chores, riding, and even grooming can provide a great workout.
There is so much to be thankful for. The list can go on and on. Every once in a while it’s nice to show thanks to your horse! Give them a special treat or spend a little extra time just hanging out with them outside of the ring. Hand grazing is a great way to spend time with your horse. You could give your horse a spa day, complete with all the massaging your horse can take!
